The Lake Hopatcong Jewish Community Center (LHJCC) is unaffilitated with any movement or stream and follows the ritual precepts of the rabbi in residence. Our services are traditional but we recognize that our community spans a wide spectrum of practices and includes both traditional and non-traditional community members. We are sensitive and responsive to both traditional and non-traditional community members. Both separate (with mechitza) and mixed seating sections are available in the sanctuary throughout the year.
When Rabbi Kirsch is in residence (November - May), services follow normative orthodox practice.
During the summer through the High Holidays, services generally follow traditional liturgy in Hebrew and includes full Torah reading, but may be with egalitarian practice.
We are respectful and sensitive that our members and guests have a wide variety of practices, but maintain that we are one community with room to span the spectrum of our community.
Shabbat In-Person Services are held at the shul on the second Shabbat of each month throughout the winter. Services begin at 10 am.
COVID-19 Protocols:
